Your baby's first complete eye exam should be done between six and nine months of age. It is nothing like Mom or Dad's experience. We will test for excessive or unequal amounts of nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. We also examine the eye muscle alignment and movement ability and the eye health status. Problems are unusual, but when present need attention at this tender age to avoid development of an amblyopic (or lazy eye). When your child's eyes look great we recommend returning at three and five years of age. For more information: American Optometric Assoc. website: www.aoa.org/x4738.xml
